DHI Hungary Ltd. and Jakab és Társai Ltd., together with the Department of Mineralogy, Geochemistry and Petrology of the University of Szeged invite you to attend the following one-day event on October 17, 2013: Present & Future of Groundwater Modeling. The venue of the event is the Uiversity of Szeged (6722 Szeged (Hungary), Egyetem u. 2.). The event will start at 09:30 a.m. Everybody interested in participating is welcome.

The goal of the event is to give insight for both novice and experienced modelers in the latest developments of numerical groundwater modeling. Primary focus is given to FEFLOW, and the related presentations will emphasize the software's new features and recent developments. We will also discuss fileds of application of the different numerical methods (finite elements, finite differences, and finite volumes), pointing out their strengths and weaknesses, advantages and disadvantages, and their availability in commercial software packages such as FEFLOW or Visual MODFLOW. Connection points and possibilities for transition between the different interfaces will also be discussed.

Main topics include:

  • the present and the future of groundwater modeling
  • numerikcal modeling methods and points of connection
  • coupled groundwater - surface water modeling
  • visualization and interpretation of modeling results
  • groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling
  • etc.
